Custome full size (1:1!) SWAT figure

Tonight we have a very unique review - that's not really a review, per se.  Michael Munzinlinger is a big fan of SWAT officers, and has painstakingly created his own life size version.  He'll take us through it tonight, with his thoughts on various aspects.  Take it away, Michael!

Hi everybody! First I want to short introduce myself. My name is Michael Munzlinger, I'm 26 years old & I live in Germany. I'm a huge fan of "S.W.A.T." police units (in real life & as figures), so I've bought some S.W.A.T. figures from Dusty Trail & BBI some time ago. I've played for a longtime with the thought to create a 1:1 life size scale figure. Since I'm so interested in S.W.A.T. teams, I've decided to create my own "S.W.A.T." figure. It should be like the Elite Force figures from BBI, but in a massive 1:1 life size scale. Bang! Here it is!

Packaging - NA
Since this is a custom figure, there's no packaging.

Sculpt - ****
What could be cooler than a figure, which is bigger than yourself? The figure stands colossal 75" from boot bottom to helmet top. I'm around 70" tall & I can't look it straight into the eyes, so you can suggest how big it really is. I have a shot of it below with my 12" Elite Force figures in line, which have the same size like his boots. I know this is no fair comparison, but it's the best way to show the immense height of the figure. The sculpt is great. Especially the hands look "unbelievably" real (with fingernails & even some veins). The serious face expression fits perfect. Despite the huge height, the figure fits in fine in line with my Elite Force figures. The only thing that sucks is: now the size of my 18" figures isn't all that impressive. :-( But this will change when neca's 22" balrog arrives in my room! :-)

Paint - ***1/2
The paint ops are good. All the skin paint matches in tone. The complexion is between a white & afro american male. The eyebrows are also well painted. There's a little skin color slop on the eyes.

Nevertheless the eyes (with real eyelashes) look really good. The small beard gives the figure some more character.

Articulation - Bupkis
I'm not going to be taking anything off the overall score due to the lack of articulation. The figure is more like the quarter scale statues from sideshow. It can't do 100 poses, but that's ok for me. I like the standard pose. It looks like he's just on the way to draw the pistol.

Outfit and Accessories - ****
(That's where the fun begins! I wish I could give 10 stars!) Sometimes 12" figures don't look very realistic, because of a too thick cloth (like at sideshow's Jason from the Friday the 13th Pt.2 movie). Thanks the life size scale of the figure, this isn't a problem. All the clothes are real, some are just bought, some are custom-made.

The details from the head to the feet:

- The Head: Helmet, storm bonnet, glasses: I've never thought, I would get such a great helmet. It's very sturdy & couldn't look better. The storm bonnet adds a mysterious look to the figure. The glasses came with the M83.

- The Bust: Tactical vest, shirts
Of course very important for a S.W.A.T. figure is the tactical vest. On the left side it has 3 pockets for M83 magazines, 2 pockets for Glock 17 magazines & a additional small pocket. On the right side are 2 big vertical pockets for special equipment & 1 big horizontal pocket with a S.W.A.T. patch on the front for some other small stuff. There's a small backpack on the right backside of the vest. Under the vest is a black shirt with a replica of the "original" shoulder patch from the LAPD S.W.A.T.! Underneath the black shirt is a white t-shirt. This gives a nice contrast.

- The Legs: Pants, pistolholder, kneepads
The pants are made of a good & resistant cloth. There's a pistolholder on the right thigh, which is connected to the vest. There's a additional small pocket  connected to one of the thigh straps & 2 more on the left & right backside of the belt. I like the "original" kneepads from "Hatch", because they give the figure a little more authenticity.

- The Weapons: Glock 17, M83
1st there's a "Glock 17" pistol on the thigh. 2nd there's the big one: the "M83" machinegun. The weapons are normally for paintball/gotcha gun sport, but they also do a great job as a accessory for this figure.

- The Feet:
The figure wears black boots with steelcaps & (senseless, nevertheless I did it) some socks.

Finally there's the police barrier band. It's more a kind of background, than a part of the figure. I've thought, this looks better than just the empty white wall behind the figure.

Fun Factor - ***1/2
This figure isn't a toy, because it has the double/triple of the size & weight of a average kid. It's a great eye catcher in my room. The search for all the stuff was (& still is) a lot of fun! I'm always happy, when I find something new to put to the figure. I love it when somebody, who doesn't know about the figure, enters my room for the first time. Some people even terrify, because they think somebody stands in the corner! :-)

Value - ****
Overall I've paid around 400,- Euro. Ok, for the money I could get many other "normal" figures, but they wouldn't be as special as this figure is. If I don't like the S.W.A.T. Look in the future I've only to change the clothes (to f.e. football player, pilot, soldier...) to change the total look of the figure, so the basic figure was a good investment.

Overall - ***1/2
The figure comes close to the picture I had in my head. I'm happy with the final result. And the best of all: The figure is "unique"! Maybe there're some other full size S.W.A.T. figures around the world, but I don't think that there's exactly the same one! It's only not 4 stars, because I want to add still some more cool stuff to the figure, like: a custom-made "Ballistic Shield", "Dynamic Entry Door Ram" & some flashbang grenade replicas.
